Sound familiar?

You have a website, but Google does not seem to know it exists. You have read the blog posts, installed an SEO plugin and seen the traffic-light scores, yet nothing much has changed. Agencies quote hundreds a month for work you cannot check, and every guide assumes you already know what "canonical" means. You do not need more tips. You need a clear order of what to do, on your own site, with someone to ask when you get stuck.

What you'll build

By the end of the course you will have your own WordPress site properly set up for search: Search Console and GA4 tracking real enquiries, a keyword map for your main pages, optimised titles and content, a clean sitemap with no nasty indexing surprises, a strong Google Business Profile if you are a local business, and a simple monthly report that shows whether it is working.

By the end you'll be able to

  • Set up and verify Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 on a WordPress site and read the reports that matter.
  • Research keywords with free tools, judge search intent and map one main keyword to each important page.
  • Configure Yoast SEO or Rank Math correctly, and explain the real differences between them.
  • Write title tags, meta descriptions, headings, body copy, image alt text and URLs that suit both people and search engines.
  • Check that pages are crawlable and indexed, submit a sitemap, fix common indexing problems and add appropriate schema markup.
  • Set up and optimise a Google Business Profile and build local SEO signals for a UK business.
  • Plan helpful content with a sensible internal linking structure, and understand how AI Overviews and AI Mode affect visibility.
  • Earn links and reviews in ways that stay within Google's guidelines and UK consumer law, and produce a clear monthly SEO report.

Capstone project

Finish with something real

Build it on your own site, or a practice brief if you do not have one, and submit it for personal written feedback from Shaz. Pass the capstone and the final exam to earn your certificate.

Who it's for

  • Small business owner / self-employed. Has a WordPress site that looks fine but gets almost no enquiries from Google. Wants to know what to actually do each month, in plain English, without paying an agency to "do SEO" she cannot check.
  • Marketer with an inherited site. Has been handed a WordPress site with an SEO plugin already installed, half-filled meta descriptions and a Search Console account nobody checks. Needs to audit what is there, fix it safely and report progress to her manager.
  • Career changer / aspiring freelancer. Building sites for first clients and wants to add "basic SEO setup" as a paid line item he can deliver with confidence. The capstone becomes a portfolio piece and the checklists become his delivery process.
  • Hobbyist. Runs a club, hobby or local history site and wants more people to find it. Everything is done with free tools.

Who it's not for

  • Anyone looking for a quick trick to reach number one by next week. Good SEO takes months.
  • Experienced SEOs who want advanced technical audits, log file analysis or enterprise tools.
  • People who want someone else to do the work for them. This course teaches you to do it yourself (though Shaz can quote separately if you need that).
  • Sites that are not built on WordPress, although much of the strategy still applies.

Questions about this course

Anything else? Send me a message or book a 30-minute taster lesson.

Do I need any SEO experience?

No. If you can log in to WordPress and edit a page, you can follow this course. Every term is explained when it first appears.

Do I need to buy any tools?

No. Everything in the course can be done with free tools: Search Console, GA4, Google Business Profile, Keyword Planner and the free versions of Yoast SEO or Rank Math. Paid tools are shown so you know what they add, but they are optional.

Will this guarantee I rank on the first page of Google?

No, and anyone who promises that is not being straight with you. What the course does is fix the things that hold most small sites back and give you a routine that builds results over time.

Does it cover AI Overviews and AI search?

Yes. Module 8 explains how Google's AI Overviews and AI Mode choose sources, how to make your content easy to cite, and Module 9 shows you how to see AI impressions in Search Console.

How does the 1:1 tutoring work?

You get 2 hours of live online sessions with Shaz, bookable in 30 or 60-minute slots within 12 months of purchase. Use them to review your own site, get help when stuck or go through your capstone feedback.

I built my site with Elementor. Is that a problem?

Not at all. The course is taught on WordPress sites built with Elementor and the block editor, and covers Elementor-specific issues such as heading tags that have been used for styling.
