Sound familiar?

Most WooCommerce tutorials stop at "add a product". Then you hit the real questions: how do I charge more for the Highlands? Do I show VAT if I am not registered? Why are my order emails going to spam? Which bits need Elementor Pro? And what do I legally have to put on the site? This course answers those questions in order, for UK shops, so you finish with a store you can actually open.

What you'll build

A complete online shop for your own business, a client or a practice brand: products with variations and proper photos, UK delivery zones, card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal payments, the right tax settings, branded shop and product pages, a fast checkout, branded emails, and the returns, terms and privacy pages a UK shop needs.

By the end you'll be able to

  • Install and configure WooCommerce on a fresh WordPress site, with HTTPS, the right store settings and the modern order storage (HPOS) in place.
  • Add simple and variable products with attributes, variation images, stock levels, categories and good product photos.
  • Set up UK delivery zones (mainland, Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) with flat rate, free-over-a-threshold and click-and-collect options.
  • Take real payments with Stripe and PayPal, including Apple Pay and Google Pay, and test every payment path before launch.
  • Configure UK VAT display and rates at a basic level, knowing exactly which questions to take to an accountant.
  • Design the shop, category and single product pages with Elementor Pro templates, and set up a block-based cart and checkout that converts on mobile.
  • Publish the legal pages a UK online shop needs and follow the UK consumer rules on cancellations, refunds and pricing.
  • Run the shop day to day: orders, stock, refunds, customer emails, backups and security, then launch and get the first sales.

Capstone project

Finish with something real

Build it on your own site, or a practice brief if you do not have one, and submit it for personal written feedback from Shaz. Pass the capstone and the final exam to earn your certificate.

Who it's for

  • Small business owner / self-employed. sells at markets, on Etsy or through Instagram DMs and wants her own shop that takes card payments, charges the right delivery and does not need a developer for every change.
  • Career changer / aspiring freelancer. wants WooCommerce on his CV because "can you build me a shop?" is one of the most common requests a new freelancer gets. This course is step 1 of the EARN path.
  • Marketer with an inherited site. has been handed a WooCommerce store she did not build and needs to understand delivery, tax settings, emails, orders and refunds well enough to run it safely.
  • Hobbyist. wants to sell prints, woodwork or a small craft range properly, with a real checkout and the legal pages in place.

Who it's not for

  • People who want a shop running by tonight without learning how it works
  • Large stores needing custom integrations, ERPs or multi-currency international selling from day one
  • Anyone looking for Shopify training (we only teach WooCommerce here)
  • Complete WordPress beginners: take Elementor Beginner first

Questions about this course

Anything else? Send me a message or book a 30-minute taster lesson.

Do I need Elementor Pro?

Only for Module 6, where we build custom shop and product templates. Everything else works with free Elementor, and Lesson 6.6 shows how to style your shop without Pro. We tell you exactly which features need it before you buy anything.

What will the shop cost to run?

WooCommerce itself is free. You will need hosting with SSL and a domain, and payment providers take a fee per transaction. Elementor Pro is optional. We walk through the real costs in Module 1 so there are no surprises.

I am not VAT registered. Is that covered?

Yes. Module 5 covers both registered and non-registered set-ups. We explain the settings; your accountant confirms your VAT position.

Can I build a shop for a client on this course?

Yes, as long as you have their permission to use it as your capstone. It is a great first portfolio piece and leads straight into our Start a Freelance Web Design Business (UK) course.

Will this work with my existing WooCommerce store?

Yes. If you have inherited a store, you can follow along on a staging copy and fix your own settings as you go.

How do the 1:1 sessions work?

You get 2 hours with Shaz to use within 12 months, booked in 30 or 60-minute slots over video call. Use them to get unstuck, review your store or talk through a client project.
