Sound familiar?

Many finished apps never make it to the stores. Signing errors, provisioning profiles, privacy forms, testing requirements and review rejections stop people at the last step, and the rules on both stores change regularly. Turning a website into an app is even harder: a simple webview wrapper is one of the most common reasons for rejection. This course walks you through the whole publishing process on both stores, shows you how to check the current rules rather than relying on old advice, and helps you choose the right route for an existing site.

What you'll build

Your own Flutter app, signed, tested through TestFlight and a Google Play testing track, with complete store listings, privacy labels and a Data safety form, submitted for review on both stores, with an automated build pipeline and a plan for future updates. You will also have a written decision for turning an existing website or WordPress site into an app.

By the end you'll be able to

  • Set up Apple Developer Program and Google Play Console accounts as an individual or a business.
  • Create app icons, splash screens and app identifiers that meet each store's requirements.
  • Sign Android and iOS builds correctly and keep your keys and certificates safe.
  • Build and test iOS apps with your own Mac or with a cloud build service.
  • Run beta tests through TestFlight and Google Play testing tracks, and check the current testing requirements for your account.
  • Write store listings and complete privacy labels and the Data safety form accurately.
  • Avoid common review rejections, and release updates with versioning, phased releases and staged rollouts.
  • Choose between a webview wrapper, a PWA and a native rebuild when turning an existing website or WordPress site into an app.

Capstone project

Finish with something real

Build it on your own site, or a practice brief if you do not have one, and submit it for personal written feedback from George. Pass the capstone and the final exam to earn your certificate.

Who it's for

  • Part 3 graduates. you have built a full app and want to get it published on both stores.
  • Developers with a finished app. your app works, but signing, provisioning and store review are holding you back.
  • Web agencies and freelancers. clients want their website or WooCommerce shop as an app, and you need an approach that passes review.
  • Windows and Linux users. you want to publish on iOS without buying a Mac.

Who it's not for

  • Beginners. This course assumes you can already build a Flutter app; start with Part 1 if not.
  • Anyone hoping to wrap a website in an app with no extra work and get it approved. We explain why that usually fails and what to do instead.
  • Anyone not prepared to pay the store account fees. You can follow the lessons without them, but you cannot publish.

Questions about this course

Anything else? Send me a message or book a 30-minute taster lesson.

Do I need a Mac to publish to the App Store?

Not necessarily. You need macOS somewhere to build and sign an iOS app, but that can be a cloud build service or a rented remote Mac. We cover building with and without your own Mac so you can choose.

What accounts and fees do I need?

To publish on iOS you need an Apple Developer Program membership, which has an annual fee. To publish on Android you need a Google Play developer account, which has a one-off registration fee. Check current prices on Apple's and Google's sites before you sign up, as they can change.

Does Google Play require testing before release?

Google Play currently asks some newer personal developer accounts to run a closed test with a minimum number of testers for a minimum period before they can publish to production. The details have changed before, so we show you where to check the current requirement and how to plan your testing around it.

Can I turn my WordPress or WooCommerce site into an app?

Yes, but how you do it matters. We compare a webview wrapper, a progressive web app and a native rebuild using the WordPress REST API, explain why stores reject apps that are only a website in a frame, and help you choose the right route for your site and budget.

How does the 1:1 tutoring work?

You get 2 hours of live 1:1 time with George, a web and mobile app developer with over 10 years' experience. Book it in one block or in shorter sessions at any point during your 12 months, and use it for anything from setup problems to a review of your own app.

What if my app is rejected during the course?

Rejections are common and usually fixable. We cover the most frequent reasons on both stores, and you can use your 1:1 time with George to work through a rejection with you. Your 30-day money-back guarantee still applies, less any tutoring time used.
